Jackie Robinson was a very influential person both in baseball and in society. He opened doors for many Hall of Fame players , such as Satchel Paige, Hank Aaron, Reggie Jackson, Willie Mays, Tony Gwynn, and many others.
Jackie Robinson affected baseball in many ways. He was the first African-American to play in the MLB, and he had to withstand many people that said he wasn’t good enough, and he didn’t deserve to be there. He was the first acknowledged black player to perform in the major leagues in the twentieth century and went on to be the first to win a batting title. He opened doors for many talented African-American players after him. In 1962 he was inducted into the baseball hall of fame which helped show whites that blacks are equal.
In 1947 Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier that not only changed baseball but it changed culture and society in America itself. Many parks, facilities, and organizations have been created in his honor. One organization, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, was created to provide education and leadership opportunities to young people. Also, segregation is no longer legal, as it was during the time he played baseball. All cultures are equal and have the same rights. He was able to change society for the better.
